Judith Hochman

Dr. Judith C. Hochman is the former Head of Windward School in White Plains, New York. She is the founder and senior faculty member of the Windward Teacher Training Institute.  She was the Superintendent of the Greenburgh Graham Union Free School District in Hastings on Hudson, New York.  Dr. Hochman is on the faculty of the Center for Educational Leadership, Baruch College, City University of New York. She lectures, presents workshops and gives courses for educational organizations, colleges and universities, as well as public and independent schools. more »

Teaching Basic Writing Skills by Judith Hochman

Teaching Basic Writing Skills, Dr. Hochman’s manual for teachers, provides teachers with flexible, evidenced -based strategies for written language instruction. This course will present strategies for teaching expository writing in all content areas in grades K-12. Instructional guidelines will be presented for developing complex sentences; outlining; writing paragraphs and compositions; and revising and editing. It offers specific evidence-based techniques to add structure, coherence and clarity to students' expository writing. This writing program, Teaching Basic Writing Skills, (Hochman Method) can be implemented in general classrooms and special education settings.
